PUBLICATIONS

Wrote a 14,000 word chapter on DNS for a collaborative book edited by John Levine and Carol Baroudi. Called Internet Secrets, the book was first published in April 1995 by IDG World Wide Books. It has come out in a 2nd edition in 2000.

Special Comment: I began my first life as an electronics technician, specializing in radio receivers, transmitters, cryptographic "crypto" encoders/decoders, and teletypes. This work morphed into the support and maintenance of computer hardware, which eventually led to my second life, where I was a systems programmer for a decade. In my third life, I was both a programmer and a Systems Wrangler (what some people call a Systems Administrator, or SysAdmin). This soon changed, as exposure to networks through network programming and administering Internet-based Information Systems led me to grow yet again. So began my fourth life, that of being a Network Wrangler. I don't manage or administer networks so much as distill peoples requirements into a design, then turn the design into a funded project. Sometimes I help existing networks to work better, while others times I am instrumental in getting new ones built. I find being a Network Wrangler the most interesting career of all because everything I've learned in my other lives is brought into play. Isn't this synergy, as Spock would say, "fascinating."
